You carried out an operation on my foot on 21st January and I am just writing to thank you so much for your wonderful work.

I cant believe my progress and am so delighted to be walking without pain. I can see myself back to my Tap Dancing hopefully sooner than I thought.

On my return from holiday in France on Sunday, it occurred to me that my long walk down and up the side of a mountain on a very rocky uneven path had pretty much proven that my left ankle was now fully repaired and really strong.

When I came to you with my long-term weakness resulting from an old rugby injury, I didn’t expect to ever feel as confident on it as I do now. Thanks for giving me this back.

I just wanted to reiterate my thanks for fixing my ankle for me. I can’t tell you how good it feels to be able to walk without that grinding pain and the knowledge that it would only get worse and worse. The current discomforts are nothing in comparison and, of course, it is very different when you know they will improve with time. I am glad I decided to go for it sooner rather than later and when I am still (relatively) young enough to put in the work to get fitter again and get out walking and cycling. I am sure I will have some ups and downs with it, but I can cope with that.

So thanks very much for such a skilful and neat job on my ankle, and thanks so much for being so accessible and quick to answer questions – that makes a huge difference to anxiety levels, which in turn helps with recovery.

I wanted to let you know how my foot is progressing, as it’s almost six months since the surgery.

I’m doing well. My podiatrist tells me that the surgery has been ‘awesomely successful’! I have regained almost total flexion, and am even starting to be able to stand up onto the ball of my foot/toes on the left side. I have almost no pain – only when I overdo it a bit. I have a Fitbit, and I am regularly doing around 5000 steps a day, often up to 8000.

I am delighted – I can already do much more than I could before the surgery, and I can see progress almost every day. Thank you.

I was very happy to proceed with Mr Clayton after he had described the procedure to me. My stay in hospital was very comfortable and all the staff were very attentive, caring and considerate.

Recovery has been much faster than expected and Mr Clayton has been quick to address and concerns I have had in the aftercare period. Overall I have been very impressed and pleased with Mr Clayton and the hospital service.
